Even though Chloé Zhao's Marvel Studios debut film, Eternals, had a relatively modest box office performance and a divisive fan response, it sowed the seeds for hitherto unimaginable galactic repercussions. By purposely stopping the Emergence, an occurrence that would have devastated Earth and killed all of its people, Gemma Chan's Sersi and her team defied the Celestial gods in the movie's climactic scene. And Harry Styles made his debut as Eros.
Fans have not called for a sequel to Eternals using the hashtags #MakeTASM3 or #ReleaseTheSnyderCut, but all narrative clues point to one being forthcoming. Even though the MCU's immortal cast doesn't have the same mainstream appeal as Spider-Man and Captain America, Marvel Studios has produced enough blockbusters worth a billion dollars to put some plots ahead of money.
However, it's still unclear what an Eternals 2 is currently up to. Angelina Jolie, the film's star, has made clear statements about "the sequel" in previous interviews, but Zhao highlighted that for the time being, a sequel is very much a "we'll see."
