The Hit-and-Run Killer of Nicki Minaj's Father has Been Given a One-Year Prison Sentence.

According to TMZ, the man who killed Nicki Minaj's father in a hit-and-run accident has been given a one-year prison term. In February 2021, Robert Maraj was walking on Long Island when Charles Polevich hit him with his car. Three days later, Polevich turned himself in to the police and was charged with tampering with physical evidence and abandoning the scene of a homicide investigation, both felonies. Witnesses claim that after hitting Maraj, Polevich stepped out of his car and inquired as to his well-being before scurrying away and hiding his car in his garage.

"“Tho I can’t really bring myself to discuss the passing of my father as yet; I can say it has been the most devastating loss of my life" Nicki Minaj said in a statement she issued three months after Maraj's funeral. I can't help but want to phone him constantly. Now that he is gone, much more so. That's just the way life is. May he find eternal peace in heaven. He was adored and will be much missed.

In May of this year, Polevich entered a plea to both of the allegations brought against him, apparently sparing himself a harsher, seven-year term. He will also have to pay a $5,000 fine and have his license suspended for six months in addition to his imprisonment.
